About

PEERS Social Skills Group for Young Adults is an evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated adults who are interested in making and keeping friends and/or dating.

About Our Group

Our social skills program for young adults helps you learn how to make friends and build dating relationships. It's designed based on research that shows these methods work well.

The program is for young adults who want to improve their social skills and are ready to practice new ways of connecting with others.

How It Works

  • You and your support person (parent or caregiver) will come to 16 meetings

  • Each meeting is 90 minutes long

  • You'll learn in separate groups, but work on the same skills

What Young Adults Will Do in the Group

  • Learn specific social skills through clear instructions

  • Watch demonstrations of these skills

  • Practice these skills during the meetings

What Support People Will Learn

  • How to help you use your new social skills

  • Ways to support you in making and keeping friends

  • How to help with dating situations

Skills You'll Learn

  • How to have good conversations

  • How to join and leave group conversations comfortably

  • When and how to use humor

  • Skills for dating successfully

  • How to plan activities with friends

  • Dealing with bullying (both direct and indirect)

  • Working through disagreements with others

  • Managing pressure in dating situations
