The Tailor Vision
The Tailor Institute empowers high-functioning individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in discovering special skills and gifts while learning tools needed to work and live more independently. Clinicians design tailored treatments plans which target our participants’ identified gifts and strengths. The goal for each client is to lead a productive, independent life. The Tailor Institute envisions a world where individuals with ASD will have every opportunity to thrive and use their skills and gifts.
Project Life Experience
The Tailor Institute provides an opportunity for young adults on the autism spectrum to experience many main pieces of independent living through a tailored and intensive multi-day program. Project Life Experience includes a tour of UMSL and the college experience, private sessions with experts in business and job skills training, and tours of typical city services catering to independent living such as transit, housing searches, community relationships, business and employment innovation centers, healthcare, and others. Project Life Experience participants also take part in a comprehensive of several Tailor Institute programs. The pilot of Project Life Experience took place in June of 2011.
